This year’s conference was convened under the theme “Integrity for the Future: Innovation, Collaboration and Action against Corruption.” Discussions emphasized the importance of building bridges of international cooperation, highlighting that legal authority alone is insufficient to keep pace with transnational crime and cross-border corruption. The conference underscored the need for trust-based formal and informal networks among officials to enable timely information exchange and effective asset recovery, alongside the application of technology. Key areas of focus included the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to identify corruption networks, predictive analysis to support proactive investigations, the development of chatbots to facilitate communication and reporting between authorities and the public, and preparedness in addressing emerging challenges posed by cryptocurrencies, which can facilitate the illicit transfer of assets. The conference further stressed the importance of moving beyond awareness to concrete action, in line with obligations under the UNCAC, by mobilizing public participation, fostering integrity values through educational institutions, and working closely with the media to build a sustainable culture of integrity and anti-corruption.
